It always bugs me when I see a long list of links to blogs. Generally, the link title is just not enough for me to know why I should be interested in that blog, let alone why that particular blogger appreciates the listed blog. So I have decided to maintain my list of blogs that engage me with an explanation of why. Of course, this list will grow with time (and may take me a while just to get it up to date).
Web Analytics Analyzed (Paul Strupp)
The first web analytics guru I ever met was Paul Strupp. I was a lonely “Web Metrics” intern when Paul told me to start calling what I did “Web Analytics” instead. He enlightened me of the value of steering clear of being a report jockey. He doesn’t blog often, but it’s always an interesting read. Thanks for helping me in my rocky beginnings.
Jim wrote the first book I read about web analytics title “Web Metrics”. It was a great introduction to the field I am now immersed in. He is the founder of the eMetrics Marketing Optimization Summit. I have yet to attend one and hope to do so very soon.
Web Analytics Demystified (Eric Peterson)
Eric was the first to complete two books on the subject (that I know of). He accepted my invitation to speak to my organization while I was at Sun Microsystems, Inc. and I am indebted to him for that. He has done a great deal to promote development of process within organizations. I owe it to him for the process that I’ve developed and use at Thrivalytics. He is a very level-headed community leader. There are also a few other noteworthy bloggers that are a part of the Web Analytics Demystified brand.
Occam’s Razor (Avinash Kaushik)
Avinash is probably the most inspiring Web Analyst. He has written two great books on the subject with his blog serving as a great springboard for the ideas found therein. He accepted my invitation to speak to my team while I was at Sun Microsystems, Inc. and I am indebted to him for that. He does a great job at guiding you to develop a data-driven culture in your organization. Worth reading every word.
Here you will find a variety of topics by various bloggers about Omniture, one of the leading web analytics vendors. I’ve been using Omniture for five years and have found it to be an exciting product. There’s always something great it does and there’s always something to complain about. I’m also an Omniture Certified Implementation Professional. Definitely a tool worth learning to use.
The BEST free web analytics tool available. I just realized why their blog is hosted on Blogger. Avinash Kaushik is their analytics evangelist. It just gets better and better. They’re out to eat every other vendor’s lunch (and just might do it!). I use Google Analytics on all of my sites. Do I look like I’m made of money?
